Yesterday on the occasion of International Dog Day (August 26) a peppy song, ‘It’s Your Cuddly Poo’ was launched. Sung and composed by Sangeet Haldipur and Siddharth Haldipur with lyrics by Vikas Gaur, this song celebrates the fact that one should love every canine; no matter which breed or where they belong.
Vandana Sethhi, Founder, Earth Films and Director, Salil Jason Fernandez, announced the new song, from the quirky documentary ‘The Tails of Boo-Boo & Cuddly’.
The beats of the song are a mixture of desi and pop. The lyrics of the song are in Hinglish to match the tone of the millennials and the message is to adopt stray dogs (cuddly poos). Strays don’t just bring love into your lives wonderful moments but are also your best friends in stressful times.
Siddharth said, “Salil made us an offer we could not refuse. Since we believe in the concept, we loved the idea of being associated with it. He mentioned that it is a project for human awareness towards the strays and rescues. We loved the name ‘Cuddly Poo’ so much that a song just came floating by. We just jammed along happily.”
“Salil is an old friend from college and has always been very passionate about filmmaking and also about looking after and rescuing animals. The concept of the documentary just led to many like-minded individuals coming together to contribute to the project. Siddharth and I chose a very new age pop kind of vibe for both the songs, especially Cuddly Poo. It’s upbeat, vibrant and beautifully written too. We had the incredible Tanay Gajjar help us out with the mix and master of the tracks”, said Sangeet.
“I wanted the song to have a young and playful vibe. Cuddly Poo is a cute character. It needed to resonate with the tune and the video. I had discussed with Sangeet and Siddharth that we should give this song an 80s-90s pop vibe. The cinematographers and I wanted to shoot this in a highly saturated, colourful manner as it had to resonate with the stylish vibe. Hence the costume stylist approached Sanjana Bubber to create the wardrobe that matches the song,” said Salil.
‘Sangeet and Siddharth are young and have a rather vivacious energy to them. I also know they are passionate animal lovers. Their professional persona and their charisma told me that they were the right fit for this. I was ecstatic when they did not think twice to say yes to it”, says Vandana Sethhi, Producer of the documentary.
Also associated with the documentary are 36 celebrities including Bollywood stars like Shraddha Kapoor, Jim Sarbh, Amrita Puri and Shibani Dandekar, musicians like Anusha Mani and Anushka Manchanda, comedians like Cyrus Broacha and influencers like Maria Goretti Warsi and Scherezade Shroff Talwar, 30 organizations including pet care centres, animal shelters and NGOs, 53 animal welfare workers, and 10 vets from the medical fraternity. This is a joint effort of over 150 crew members coming together, collaborating behind the camera on a pro-bono basis.
