The story of the film is based on the time of emergency imposed in India in 1975, and Kangana has played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in it. They have sent a legal notice to the CBFC demanding cancellation of the censor certificate of the film, due to which the release of the film has been stopped.
Kangana recently shared a video saying that the film had earlier received approval from the CBFC, but the censor certificate has been withheld due to several threats. She termed the situation as “unfortunate” for the country and urged the government to take action on the matter. I sought intervention.
The controversy over the film has grown so much that a criminal case has been registered against Kangana in Chandigarh for hurting religious sentiments.
