Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh won’t be producing the highly-awaited reboot of Shaktimaan, his representatives confirmed on Wednesday, ending weeks of speculation regarding his involvement as a backroom player. Although Singh’s name has been floating in relation to the superhero series, his representatives have confirmed that he is already busy with his new acting assignments and has nothing to do with the production aspect of Shaktimaan.
Prioritize Dhurandhar and Don 3
Ranveer is currently busy with his commitments in Dhurandhar, written and directed by Prasanth Varma, and Don 3, a much-awaited reboot of the classic action series. Both films are keeping him fully occupied, as per sources close to the actor, and he has no intention of going into production right now.
Dhurandhar is a new venture by Singh and Varma and is being touted as an offbeat action entertainer. Don 3, on the other hand, to be directed by Farhan Akhtar, would have Ranveer donning the role of the iconic Don, earlier essayed by Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
Shaktimaan Remains in Development
The Shaktimaan remake, which is inspired by the 90s cult superhero show featuring Mukesh Khanna, is still on board. Sony Pictures India is as of now attached to the film, though no official production or casting details have yet been announced. The fans were keen to see Singh take the lead or be linked with the role as a producer, but his team’s statement has canceled out both possibilities for now.
Clearing the Air
Ranveer Singh’s representative averred, “Ranveer is not working on any film right now. “He has so many ongoing commitments as an actor that are very time-sensitive, particularly with Dhurandhar and Don 3 in the pipeline.” The confirmation came after several reports indicated Singh’s name surfaced as a creative producer for Shaktimaan, exciting fans.
Although Singh’s name is no longer attached to Shaktimaan, the hype around the superhero movie still hasn’t waned. In the meantime, fanatics should get set to see Ranveer in two of his most highly-awaited films next year — both of which promise to feature the actor in strong, transformative performances.
