Prithvi Theatre hosts tribute festival “For You, Shiv” this December

Prithvi Theatre hosts tribute festival

It is always heartwarming to know a legacy has torchbearers. As Shiv smiles down at us from a seat above, it is time to unravel the timelessness of his work and celebrate it with one and all. Divya Jagdale, along with her family and friends, have conceptualised a festival from the 20th to 23rd of December at Prithvi Theatre.

Elaborating on the festival Divya shares, “The festival is to celebrate Shiv, his love for theatre, for everyone who loved him and a hope towards the future of children suffering ependymoma brain tumours ”

The festival will begin with a book release, which is a compilation of three plays – Irani Cafe, Snapshots from an Album and Clogged Arteries. “Shiv Subrahmanyam’s playwriting is an extension of human behaviour in the most direct way. Whether it is laughter or anger. He was an insightful human who wrote because he could hear life speak through people. A thinker, yet he didn’t make his writing ideologically heavy or full of ‘isms’. If there is any ‘ism’ which resonates in his plays it is humanism. I learned from Shiv about how to be a good listener. Also how not to interfere with his written characters.”, shares Makrand Deshpande.

Another highlight of the festival will be the discussion on Irani Cafe on 23rd with Leena Yadav, Nandini Ramnath and Vinay Pathak. The festival is not only a celebration but also a way of giving back to a cause close to Divya’s heart. All proceeds from the festival will be donated to Tata Memorial Hospital for the purpose of research on brain tumours.

Come celebrate the love and camaraderie at Prithvi Theatre.
