Director Om Raut, known for creating the historical epic Tanhaji, has expressed his admiration for the recently released film Chhaava, calling it a proud moment for Indian cinema. Raut, whose blockbuster Tanhaji became a massive hit, believes that Chhaava not only pays tribute to Maratha king but also elevates the way Indian cinema tells historical stories.
“Chhaava is not just a film; it’s an experience. The narrative, the scale, and the visuals take you into the heart of Maratha history. It’s a proud moment for Indian cinema to see such stories being told with so much passion and dedication,” Raut said, praising the filmmaker Laxman Utekar.
When released, Tanhaji was seen as a game-changer in the Indian film industry. With its grand action sequences, gripping storytelling, and larger-than-life visuals, the film broke records at the box office. It immortalised the fearless Maratha warrior Tanhaji Malusare, played by Ajay Devgn, and was hailed as one of the finest historical epics in recent Indian cinema. The film’s success at the box office solidified its place as a cultural phenomenon, reigniting interest in the rich legacy of the Maratha Empire.
Both films, while distinct in their own ways, share a commitment to celebrating the courage, sacrifice, and pride of the Maratha warriors. Raut’s excitement about Chhaava is palpable, and he believes it will have a lasting impact on the Indian film industry. “The storytelling in Chhaava is powerful and presents it with such grandeur and emotional depth that it will resonate with audiences for years to come.” He added.
As the film continues to garner praise for its epic scale and strong performances, it is clear that the legacy of our heroes from Indian history are being recognised and immortalised in Indian cinema courtesy filmmakers like Om Raut, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Laxman Utekar among others.
