Khazana a Festival of Ghazals’ 2025 to Honour Legendary Playback Singer Mohammed Rafi celebrating His Centenary Year and a Special Tribute to Ustad Zakir Hussain Ji.
Mumbai: ‘Khazana A Festival of Ghazals’ conceived 24 years ago by the legendary Ghazal maestro Pankaj Udhas Padmabhushan awardee, in aid of PATUT (Parents Association Thalassemic Unit Trust) and CPAA (Cancer Patients Aid Association) has grown into a cherished musical tradition and a platform for emerging and established Ghazal artists. The festival, which began with the noble vision of supporting thalassemic children and cancer patients, continues to uphold this mission with renewed passion and commitment.
Carrying forward the timeless legacy of Padma Bhushan awardee Pankaj Udhas, has been taken forward by his better half Smt. Farida Pankaj Udhas after him and continues this heartfelt initiative, ensuring the cause he deeply cared for lives on through music and compassion. The event remains a significant cultural fundraiser, supporting treatment and care for cancer patients and thalassemic children across India. This year we also lost one of our founder members Rekha Sapru ji Honorary Joint Secretary CPAA who along with Pankaj Udhas ji worked tirelessly to make Khazana a household name to support these patients.
The 24th edition of Khazana A Festival of Ghazals will be held on Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 7:00 PM onwards, at the Regal Room, Trident Hotel, Nariman Point, Mumbai.
Over the past 24 years, Khazana has grown into one of the most anticipated music festivals in the country, blending timeless poetry with soulful melodies for a noble cause. This year’s edition will also pay a heartfelt tribute to the iconic playback singer Mohammed Rafi, commemorating his centenary year. With a voice that transcended generations, Rafi Sahab’s contribution to Indian music remains unparalleled, and this year’s festival seeks to celebrate his timeless legacy.
The event will feature some of the country’s most revered Ghazal artistes, including Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, Rekha Bhardwaj, Sudeep Banerji, Osman Mir, Amir Mir, Pt. Ajay Pohankar, Abhijit Pohankar, Mahalakshmi Iyer, Pratibha Singh Baghel, Barnali Chattopadhyay, Kalpana Gandharv and Himaanshu Sharrma.
Adding to the musical grandeur, a special tribute performance will be presented to the legendary Ustad Zakir Hussain ji, accompanied by Rakesh Chaurasia, Shikhar Naad Qureshi, Ojas Adhiya, and Sanjoy Das.
The event will also feature the winners of the Khazana Ghazal Talent Hunt 2025 from all over India, spotlighting the future of Ghazal music in India.
