Sunny Deol’s much-anticipated action drama Jaat hasn’t quite lived up to its pre-release hype, as the film has managed to collect just over ₹30 crore at the worldwide box office in its first three days. Despite a strong fan base and widespread promotion, the movie is struggling to match the pace of other recent big releases.
Sikandar’s Day 1 numbers still ahead
The film’s underwhelming performance becomes more noticeable when compared to Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which had a record-smashing start with ₹26 crore on its opening day alone. Jaat, even after three full days, has yet to surpass that single-day total—highlighting the lukewarm audience response so far.
India box office sluggish, overseas marginally better
Domestically, Jaat has collected approximately ₹22 crore by the end of day 3, with some regional circuits performing slightly better due to Deol’s popularity in North India. However, the footfalls in metro cities have been weaker than expected. The overseas market has contributed around ₹8.5 crore, with the UK, UAE, and Canada showing decent traction.
Mixed reviews and weak word-of-mouth impact earnings
One of the major setbacks for Jaat appears to be its mixed critical reception. While Sunny Deol’s action-packed performance received praise from fans, critics pointed out the film’s dated screenplay and lack of emotional depth. Social media chatter also indicates that word-of-mouth isn’t strong enough to generate sustained momentum at the box office.
Can it pick up over the weekend?
All eyes are now on the upcoming weekend to see if the film can recover some ground. With no major Bollywood releases scheduled in the next few days, Jaat might get a chance to breathe—provided the audience starts walking in.
Competition heating up
Jaat’s struggle is also being compounded by the continued success of Sikandar, which is still going strong in its second week. Additionally, the South Indian film L2: Empuraan is steadily catching up in terms of global collections, making the competition even tougher.
As things stand, Sunny Deol’s Jaat will need a strong push and a solid weekend performance to avoid becoming a box-office disappointment.
