This year, 2022 marks the 75th Anniversary of partition of India and Pakistan. EventScape brings you international award winning film Khamosh Pani which won seven international awards directed by Pakistani filmmaker Sabiha Sumar and starring eminent personalities from film fraternity Kiron Kher, Shilpa Shukla, Adnan Shah Tipu and Late actor Amir Malik.
Kiron Kher already had a filmography that was enviably vast right at the beginning of her career, she bagged two national awards. With Khamosh Pani she won her first international best actress award. Kiron Kher has essayed a vast variety of roles in her career but Khamosh Pani has marked one of the greatest milestones in her career.
Khamosh Pani wons multiple awards including, 2003: Won Top Prize at Locarno International Film Festival, Best Actress: Kirron Kher; Don Quixote Award – Special Mention: Sabiha Sumar; Golden Leopard (Best Film): Sabiha Sumar; Prize of the Ecumenical Jury: Sabiha Sumar; Youth Jury Award – Special Mention: Sabiha Sumar.
In 2003: Nantes Three Continents Festival – Audience Award: Sabiha Sumar; Silver Montgolfiere: Sabiha Sumar. At the Karachi International Film Festival, 2003 – Special Jurors’ Selection Ciepie, Best Actress in a Leading Role: Kirron Kher; Best Screenplay: Paromita Vohra. At the Lux Style Awards, 2005 it won Best Film.
