Trolling on social media has now become a regular occurrence and many actors are trolled every now and then. Giving the take on how she reacts to trolling, Ridhi says, “Bullying has always occurred. It’s always wrong. I grew up being bullied, and while sometimes it got to me, I just developed a thicker skin. And I learned to fight for myself a little bit harder. It’s the same in the current times, the bullies exist everywhere, in schools, on the internet even in workplaces. Once, during my school days, a girl called me the ugliest girl in the grade because I was darker than the rest. She also called me black and poor. I then started using a fairness cream in the hopes of turning fair, just like the rest of them. I didn’t know much then and I wish I had stood up for myself. Today, my skincolor is what I’m extremely proud of and I would not do a single thing to change it.”
Further, she says, ”Thankfully I don’t get a lot of mean comments these days, but when I do, instead of getting aggravated about it, I end up laughing. It does get easier with time. I understand that this comes with the line of work that I’m in. There were instances that trolling did get to me,I kept reminding myself that it’s just noise that I need to drown out. Everyone has a right to their viewpoints and that’s absolutely fine, but I know that I shouldn’t take their emotions onto myself.”
Lastly, she says, “The only time when someone’s opinion really matters to me is when my close friends and family have to say something.”
She debuted with Lust Stories, the part directed Anurag Kashyap and then was a crucial part of the Zee5 web show Reject X and recently she was seen playing an important role in Whistleblower.
