Singer-composer Harshit Saxena has several hit Bollywood numbers to his credit. And now, he’s ventured into the web space with Ronit Roy and Amit Sadh’s upcoming project, 7 Kadam. “It’s the story of a father and son, and it revolves around football. It’s an emotional, family-oriented movie and it was challenging to make music for it,” Harshit tells Saachibaat.com.
The Haal-E-Dil singer has composed two tracks for the project, which have been penned by lyricist Sameer Anjaan. “Both are situational songs. One is a football anthem, which also features vocals by me. It’s a very enthusiastic number. The second track is very different and it is played throughout the film. It has got a baul feel, as the movie is based and made in Kolkata. It has got a SD Burman music vibe. I have approached it very differently. Palash Sen and Swaroop Khan have sung this track,” says Harshit.
Ask him if he felt any difference between movies and OTT projects while making music, and he says it felt the same. “The way the OTT platforms are growing, it’s great. The situations for both films and web series are similar. It’s just that web shows have less number of songs, compared to films,” he explains.
Meanwhile, Harshit also likes to make independent music simultaneously and he utilised the lockdown period last year to do more of it. “It’s a great time for independent music. I want to work on more singles. I want to focus more on releasing independent music. The pandemic situation last year definitely boosted that interest,” he says.
