Renowned Indian filmmaker Kiran Rao, who is serving on the jury of the prestigious Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) this year, made a striking appearance at the festival’s grand opening ceremony, turning heads in a stunning Payal Khandwala red saree.
Representing Indian cinema and culture on the global stage, Rao’s elegant presence added a touch of grace and tradition to the international red carpet, making India proud.
The SIFF jury is led by celebrated Italian filmmaker and Oscar-winner Giuseppe Tornatore, best known for Cinema Paradiso. The distinguished jury panel also includes Argentine director Iván Fund, Chinese actor-director Huang Bo, filmmaker Yang Lina, actress Yong Mei, and Greek producer Thanassis Karathanos.
Kiran Rao’s presence at the festival reflects the growing influence of Indian cinema and its storytellers in the global film community.
The festival showcases over 400 films from over 71 countries, taking place from June 13-22.
