Bangalore’s first-ever Sustainable Fashion Festival is taking place this weekend. The debut event is curated by co-founders Mariam Begg and Meghna Khanna of The Preloved Co. Mariam says, “Clothes are the biggest polluters of landfills worldwide. Our mission is to keep clothes away from landfills, spread the word about the circular fashion movement, and use the platform to raise money for charity.”
Expect stalls where you can both donate and shop for preloved fashion. Adding to the buzz are movie screenings, curated workshops, and interactive sessions with some seriously incredible changemakers in the world of preloved fashion. Don’t forget to book your seats for exciting workshops on editing and re-inventing your clothes.
Workshops such as ‘Edit Your Clothes’ with Saguna Sabharwal will walk you through redesigning and exploring new ways to wear your pre-existing wardrobe. Or sign up for ‘Mend It Like Pishvi’ to learn about DIY upcycling, repairing, and riveting with Nisha Abraham of Pishvi. “I’ll be there with my bag of tools, bits, and bobs to help you make something fantastic. Reimagine your dungarees or a summer dress with leather straps or restyle your jewellery or those old jeans with leather tabs or create a cuff or anklet,” says Nisha.
The workshops promise hands-on learning, so don’t forget to bring your piece or two to the class. Look up their schedule to plan your rendezvous, or check out their social media handle @the.preloved.co to know more.
