Charrul Malik really enjoyed walking the ramp after a long time. The news anchor turned actor talks about her experience at the recently held Panache GMA season 2. She was the showstopper for fashion designer Vishal Kapoor.
“It was a great experience walking the ramp as a showstopper after such a long time. I walked the ramp when I was in college and was the winner of a beauty pageant. So that was a different experience altogether. Here I was a showstopper, and in a designer dress, it was a very different feeling altogether since you’re in the limelight, and you’re being highlighted. Everybody is having a lot of expectations from you and your dress and rest of the things. So it was a great experience,” she says.
There was a time when newcomers used to start modelling before they shifted to acting. Many thought that the former would help them get a break into the film industry directly and easily.
“Earlier, we had the misconception that only models could enter the industry, but now anyone can since acting is no longer based on appearances, and it is no longer about models who are attractive and have fit bodies. Anybody who has skills and is passionate about acting, they get the break. So those days are gone. I think now people are getting more opportunities,” she adds.
Talking more about her latest experience, Charrul begins by saying that it was an exciting one. “I loved it and my designer Vishal Kapoor, he’s a rockstar. I think all his outfits were outstanding and mine was the best. I loved the colour and liked the way he played with colours. He designed a very vibrant and beautiful coloured outfit for me and I think that really complimented my personality. I’m thankful to him and God, and everybody who is there with me and of course it is a good feeling, something different and experimental as I said. I believe in doing different things and do not want to stick to only one form like just acting. So I want to be on a different platform, doing different things because it is really satisfactory when you do something like that and get appreciated,” she ends.
