The fourth day of the 25th Bharat Rang Mahotsav(BRM) 2026, the world’s largest international theatre festival, organised by the National School of Drama, New Delhi, featured a vibrant lineup of national and international productions across diverse theatrical formats, including children-centric performances under BRM 2026’s Jashn-e-Bachpan segment.
The day began with Mai Hun Bhi Aur Nahi Bhi, a devised Hindi production led by Sheel and Hemant Kumar and presented by the National School of Drama’s Theatre in Education (TIE) Sunday Club Part-1, Group-G. Staged as part of the Jashn-e-Bachpan segment, the play explored imagination and identity through an experiential theatre format.
Another presentation under the same segment was the devised play Thoda Idhar Thoda Udhar, created under the guidance of team leaders Narendra Singh and Ranjana Manger, and staged by TIE’s Sunday Club Part-1, Group-F. The production brought together young performers who interpreted everyday realities with innocence and layered creativity.
Adding to the cultural diversity of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2026 was the Bengali play Ghoramukho Pala, inspired by eminent playwright Late Shri Girish Karnad’s Hayavadana. Written by renowned writer Shankha Ghosh and directed by Sayak Mukherjee, the production was presented by Baghajatin Bikshan from West Bengal. Blending Bengali folk performance traditions with contemporary theatrical sensibilities, the play received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
The evening culminated with the international solo performance ‘!’ (Exclamation Mark), written and directed by Paolo Avataneo of Italy. Known for its expressive narrative style, the production demonstrated how physicality and minimalism can create a powerful and immersive theatrical experience.
The day reflected the festival’s philosophy of cultural confluence, presenting theatre in varied forms and styles for a wide and inclusive audience.
BRM 2026, scheduled to be held across 40 other cities in India, is currently underway in Bengaluru, while the opening ceremonies were held today in Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Imphal (Manipur) and Nagaon (Assam).
