Nandini Bajekal presents a breathtaking solo exhibition “The Way Mountains Talk,” at Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Worli, Mumbai. The exhibition runs from 7th to 13th January, 2025 from 11am to 7pm.
Nandini’s work in Chinese Inks and Watercolors on Rice Paper follows an ancient tradition and style which originated in China around 6000 years ago. This style of painting is not commonly practiced or presented in India. Hence this exhibition provides a special opportunity to see art of this genre. Nandini has been pursuing this art form for around 28 years.
According to Nandini, “Each mountain has its own personality. Every ridge tells a story, every fold carries an emotion, every crevice conceals a challenge, and every rise celebrates a triumph. Sometimes, to truly understand, I must listen with more than my ears, I must listen with my eyes, my heart, my very being”.
Beyond the aesthetic beauty, Nandini’s work highlights deeper concerns about the fragility of mountain ecosystems. Through her paintings, she subtly raises awareness of the urgent need to preserve the flora, fauna, and natural habitat of these regions. “The Way Mountains Talk” is more than an exhibition it is an ode to the majestic mountains and a call to protect their silent but vital conversations with the world.
