Not many would know that actor-TV host Karan Wahi is also an artist. And, in a bid to raise funds for the Ek Saath – The Earth Foundation, a charitable organisation founded by Pragya and Abhishek Kapoor, Karan will be auctioning a one-of-a-kind digital piece of art online. This makes the actor the first Indian (with more to be announced in the coming weeks) to be part of an initiative by Cryptograph, a London-based digital auction platform that has seen participation by world-renowned celebrities, including Adrien Brody, Paris Hilton, Ashton Kutcher, Jason Momoa, Kristen Wiig, Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin, Bitcoin.com CEO Roger Ver, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, producer and songwriter Scott Storch, Black Eyed Peas star Apl.de.ap and renowned artists like Alec Monopoly, Joe Sola, RETNA and more.
For his art work, Karan first created a physical piece of art, which he then digitised. Titled: New Born Mother, it’s an abstract painting made in honour of his mother. He uses a wide range of vibrant colours and swirling effects in his piece that are meant to symbolise the deep emotions and themes relating to the unique connection that exists between mothers and their newborns.
Speaking about his artwork, Karan says, “I named it New Born Mother because every time a newborn comes to life, it brings new life to their mother, too. This digital canvas of colour depicts new beginnings, birth and motherhood. The myriad of colours I’ve used represent the multitude of emotions that a new mother has, from the sensitive blues to the protective reds through to the bright yellows and more. To me, my mother represents life and to depict that in an art piece has been very special for me. I made this piece at a turning point in my life and hence it forever holds a piece of my heart.”
