What is the significance of World Wildlife Conservation Day?
Wildlife plays a crucial role in maintaining our ecosystem and balancing our food chain. That is why the 4th of December is a day specially dedicated to its conservation and protection. On this day, the entire world’s communities work together to raise awareness, conserve and provide protection to endangered species of wildlife like elephants, rhinos, and tigers.
It has been reported that on the 4th of December, a call to action was put out by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the year 2012 to raise awareness and reach to masses and also, engage conservationists. It was on the 8th of November, 2012, during the “Wildlife Trafficking and Conversation: A call to action” event, and this was decided.
It is a golden opportunity for us all to get closer to mother earth by knowing and protecting her children better.
Apart from this day, the United Nations General Assembly has decided to proclaim the 3rd of March as Wildlife day. Though, it is best if, in our day-to-day life, we care about plants, animals, and wildlife. Yet, keeping a day aside helps in creating awareness and consciousness in the general public.
