The Prime Minister of India launched the “Rozgar Mela” on 22nd October 2022. It is a mega recruitment drive that has the aim to recruit 10 lakh people. It is going to be implemented in a phased manner.
In the first phase of the Rozgar Mela, recruitment will be undertaken for over 10 lakh Government jobs in 50 centers across the country. Appointment letters have already been sent to 75,000 candidates.
The mission is headed by the National Skill Development Corporation under the guidance of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Recruitments are made for various Ministries and Departments through recruitment agencies like UPSC, SSC, Railway Recruitment Board, etc.
The posts which have vacancies are: Central Armed Force Personnel, Sub Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, PA, Income Tax Inspector, and MTS.
This initiative is a significant milestone in fulfilling the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas which will lead to Amrit Kaal in India.
But the key problem that has to be addressed as per Human Development Report (HDR) 2020 is that barely one in five Indians in the labor force is “skilled.” Therefore, the Government alongside has to provide skill development training to enhance the quality of the human resource.
Another area where the Government can act is by involving the Private sector. Because to reach the target of 10 lakh Government does not have sufficient vacancy in ministries.
