Maharana Pratap Singh popularly known as “ Maharana” was the 13th king of Mewar (the present Rajasthan). He was born on May 9, 1540. The “Siege of Chittorgarh” led to the loss of fertile eastern belt to the Mughals in 1568. Akbar wanted to establish a secure route to Gujarat through Mewar. So, he sent number of envoys to King Rana to become a vassal just like the other Rajputs. Rana refused. Hence, the Battle of Haldighati was fought. Maharana is known for his bravery in the Battle of Haldighati. The battle was fought on 18 June, 1576 between Maharana and the forces of Akbar. Though, the Rana lost, he and his chief army men escaped with wounds. They re-gathered their forces, fought and won against the Mughals after six years.

VEDIK GYAN:

Jambavan (Devanagari: जाम्बवान्) also known as Jambavat (Devanagari: जाम्बवत्) is the divine-king of bears, created by the god Brahma to assist the avatara Rama in his struggle against the Lanka king Ravana.

Jambavan, together with Parashurama and Hanuman, is considered to be one of the few to have been present for both Rama and Krishna avataras. His daughter Jambavati was married to Krishna. As he was also present at the Samudra Manthana, or the churning of the ocean, he was thus witness to the Kurma avatara, and further the Vamana avatara, Jambavan may well be the longest-lived of the Chiranjeevi and have been witness to nine avataras
