MYSORE, KARNATAKA
Mysore was ruled by the demon-king Mahishasura, he was a buffalo-headed monster. Hence, came the name of this place – Mahishuru, the city of demon Mahisha. The demon was killed by the Goddess Chamundeshwari, whose temple is situated atop the Chamundi Hills. Mahishuru later became Mahisuru and finally came to be called Maisuru, its present name in the Kannada language. The anglicised form of the name is Mysore.
Mysore, previously known as Mysuru, is the third largest and second most populated city of Karnataka. Situated right at the foot of Chamundi Hills, Mysore was once the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore.
the celebration of Dussehra in the city of Mysore in Karnataka is rather royal and majestic. The entire city gets decked for the 10-day celebration of Dasara, which is popularly known as Nada Habba in Mysore.
