Vijayanagar Kingdom (1336–1646 CE)
Harihara and Bukka Raya (brothers)
under the guidance of the saint Vidyaranya in 1336 CE.
Capital: Vijayanagar (modern Hampi, Karnataka)
→ It means “City of Victory.”
Golden Period – Krishnadevaraya (1509–1529 CE):
Most powerful ruler of Vijayanagar.
Promoted art, literature, and architecture. Wrote the Telugu book Amuktamalyada. His court had the Ashtadiggajas (8 great poets). Built many temples, gopurams, and forts — especially in Hampi.
Expanded the empire across South India.
