The Vijayanagara Empire, also called Karnata Kingdom, was based in the Deccan Plateau region in South India. It was established in 1336 by the brothers Harihara I and Bukka Raya I of the Sangama dynasty, members of a pastoralist cowherd community that claimed Yadava lineage.

TULSI VIVAH ЁЯМ┐
As per a blessing by Vishnu to marry Vrinda in her next birth, Vishnu тАУ in form of a stone Shaligram married Tulsi on Prabodhini Ekadashi. (Salagrama or Shaligram is a fossilized shell used in South Asia as an iconic symbol – Shaligrams are usually collected from river-beds or banks such as the Gandaki River in Nepal.
To commemorate this event, the ceremony of Tulsi Vivah is performed. The Tulsi wedding or Tulsi Vivah is significant as it symbolises the beginning of wedding season as per Hindu calendar.
Another minor legend narrates that Lakshmi slew a demon on this day and remained on earth as the Tulsi plant.
