1. On the occasion of World Photography Day on 19 August, 2021, a biopic of acclaimed photographer-photo journalist, Raghu Rai will be streamed by Films Division on its website and YouTube channels. Raghunath Rai Chowdhry, known as Raghu Rai, is an Indian photographer and photojournalist.

10. Muharram is the first month of Islamic calendar which is ten or twelve days shorter than the Gregorian calendar followed by the West. The word Muharram means ‘not permitted’ or ‘forbidden’ hence, Muslims are prohibited from taking part in activities like warfare.

21. The Supreme Court on 18 Aug (Wednesday) passed an interim order allowing women to take the admission exam to National Defence Academy (NDA), which was previously only open to men.
The top court directed that women can sit for exams for entry in NDA, The admission to the academy will be subject to the final orders of the Court.
22. NDA II 2021 written exam is scheduled to be conducted on November 14 across 75 exam centres spread throughout the country.
Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on September 5. However, it was postponed by UPSC after reviewing the prevailing situation due to COVID-19 pandemic. NDA (II) 2021 admit card for the written exam will be released in October.
23. UPSC has announced NDA (I) & (II) 2022 exam dates. According to UPSC Calendar 2022, NDA (I) 2022 exam will be conducted on April 10, 2022. While NDA (II) 2022 exam will be conducted on September 4, 2022.
