President Kovind addresses nation on eve of 75th Independence day

1. President Kovind addresses nation on eve of 75th Independence day; calls upon citizens to imbibe motto of ‘Har Kam Desh Ke Naam’ as a mantra.

2. President praises Corona warriors, Doctors, Nurses & Health workers for their services during pandemic.

3. PM Modi will lead the Nation in celebrating this historic 75th Independence Day from the ramparts of the Red Fort in New Delhi. He will hoist the National Flag and deliver the customary Address to the Nation. After being hoisted, the Tricolour will receive a ‘Rashtriya Salute’. The Navy Band, consisting of 16 men will play the National Anthem during hoisting of the National Flag and the ‘Rashritya Salute’.

4. Prime Minister declares 14th August as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day (विभाजन विभीषिका स्‍मृति दिवस) to be observed every year.

5. PM Modi had launched ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ from Sabarmati Ashramat Ahmedabad in Gujarat in March 2021 to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence. The celebrations will continue till August 15, 2023.

6. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India in collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a GMR Group-led consortium, organised FIT INDIA FREEDOM RUN 2.0 at the Delhi Airport to commemorate 75th Independence Day.

7. NITI Aayog has released a handbook to guide state governments and local bodies to frame policies and norms towards setting up charging networks for electric vehicles.

8. PM Modi conveyed best wishes to writer and historian Baba Saheb Purandare on entering the 100th year of his life. Speaking at the celebration to mark the Centenary year of Baba Saheb’s life through video conferencing. Balwant Moreshwar Purandare, popularly known as Babasaheb Purandare is a writer and theatre personality from Maharashtra.

9. The Bombay High Court on Saturday ordered an interim stay to the operation of clauses 9 (1) and 9 (3) of the new Information Technology Rules, 2021, for digital media pertaining to adherence to a Code of Ethics.

10. Govt hikes caps on airfares, increases capacity to 72.5%. Airlines can now sell more seats on domestic routes and charge higher fares, the civil aviation ministry said.

13. Andhra Pradesh govt will complete construction of 80,000 Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDCO) houses in the next six months and hand them over to beneficiaries, minister Botsa Satyanarayana has announced.

14. Meera Mithun, the actress-model has been arrested by the Chennai crime branch on August 14, Saturday. She was arrested by the crime branch for passing casteist remarks against the Dalit community, in a video that went viral on social media.

15. Assistant Sub-Inspector Babu Ram and Constable Altaf Hussain Bhat of Jammu and Kashmir Police were on Saturday posthumously conferred with the Ashoka Chakra and the Kirti Chakra awards respectively on the eve of the 75th Independence Day.

While the Ashoka Chakra is India’s highest peacetime gallantry honour, Kirti Chakra is the second in order of precedence of peacetime gallantry awards.

16. The Defence Acquisition Council headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh including the Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Bipin Rawat and three Armed Forces Chief are expected to clear several major projects for the Armed Forces on 15 Aug (Independence Day’s evening).

17. President Ram Nath Kovind has approved 144 Gallantry awards to Armed Forces, police and paramilitary personnel on the eve of Independence Day. These include one Ashok Chakra, one Kirti Chakra, 15 Shaurya Chakras, four Bar to Sena Medals (Gallantry), 116 Sena Medals (Gallantry), five Nao Sena Medals (Gallantry) and two Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).

18. *India’s First Homemade Aircraft Carrier Passes Its First Big Test* :. Indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC), INS Vikrant, has successfully completed its first sea voyage.

19. The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has invited online applications from the interested and eligible candidates to fill up 480 Technical & Non-Technical Trade Apprentices for Southern Region. As per the notification, candidates can apply for IOCL Recruitment 2021 on or before 28 August 2021 on the official website.
