Ace Indian Shooter Manu Bhaker opened medals tally for India at the Paris Olympics with a bronze in Women’s 10 meter air pistol event yesterday. Manu became the first Indian woman ever to win an Olympic medal in Shooting competition.
India’s last shooting medals at the Olympics came in 2012 in London, where Vijay Kumar won bronze in the rapid-fire pistol event and Gagan Narang clinched bronze in the 10m air rifle competition.
3. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian shooter for opening India’s medal tally. The President in her message said, India is proud of Manu Bhaker as her feat is going to inspire many sportspersons, especially women.
4. Indian shuttler HS Prannoy outclassed Fabian Roth of Germany in straight games to win his first Men’s singles match of Group K. Prannoy beat Roth 21-18, 21-12
