1. Indian Navy undertook bilateral exercise ‘Zayed Talwar 2021’ with UAE Navy on 07 Aug (Saturday) off the coast of Abu Dhabi. INS Kochi, with two integral Sea King MK 42B helicopters, deployed in the Persian Gulf, participated in the exercise.
2. PM Modi will chair the High-level Open Debate on Enhancing Maritime Security today (09 Aug) at 5.30 PM through video conferencing. The Open Debate will focus on ways to effectively counter maritime crime and insecurity & strengthened coordination in the maritime domain.PM Modi, will be the first Indian Prime Minister to preside over a UN Security Council Open Debate.
3. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar shared concerns over Afghanistan’s security situation during a meet with Qatar’s Special Envoy Mutlaq bin Majed Al-Qahtani in New Delhi. Mr Majed was on a two-day visit to India to discuss the peace process in Afghanistan.
4. Even after the Indian & Chinese armies disengaged at the border in eastern Ladakh on 4th & 5th, the Nyoma territory Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) remains busy with whirring helicopters.

1. The govt of Bangladesh has announced the lifting of the lockdown in the country from August 11 with certain restrictions.
2. Several homes & shops belonging to the minority Hindu community were attacked and temples vandalised in an incident in Khulna district of Bangladesh. *Reason* : on the issue of singing Kirtan at the time of Namaz.
3.India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier (IAC) Vikrant returned to the shore on 08 Aug (Sunday) after successfully accomplishing its maiden sea voyage. Trials progressed as planned and the system parameters proved satisfactory.
4. In Pakistan two policemen killed & 13 others are injured in blast near Unity Chowk in Quetta. Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan has condemned the incident.
