1. The Taliban have captured their first provincial capital since launching an offensive to coincide with the departure of foreign troops.
2. The Russian Defence Ministry gave the green light to the Su-30SM upgrade program, an aircraft that has been deployed in large numbers in the Air Force and Naval Aviation, to bring it to the SM2 version.
3. Bangladesh started a mass COVID 19 vaccination programme on Saturday. The campaign aims to vaccinate about 32 lakh people between August 8-12 across the country.
