#External affairs Minister: Subrahmanyam Jaishankar

1. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal today held meetings with his counterparts at G7 Trade Ministers meet in Italy.

2. External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar met former Prime Ministers of Mauritius Dr. Navin Ramgoolam and Paul Bérenger during his official visit to Mauritius. After meeting with Dr. Navin Ramgoolam, Mr. Jaishankar said, they discussed long standing bilateral partnership and the broad-based desire for its further growth.

3. The annual Kataragama Esala festival is being celebrated in Sri Lanka. Devotees who started their Pada Yatra in May have reached Kataragama completing a journey of over 500 kilometres across difficult terrain on foot from as far afield as Jaffna in Sri Lanka’s northern peninsula. The festival which is celebrated across faiths is known to have deep bonds bridging India and Sri Lanka.

4. India will hold the second Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation from 11th to 12th September.

5. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan on Wednesday addressed the 2008 batch of Indian Foreign Service officers undergoing a Mid-Career Training Program at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore.

6. Sudhir Mungantiwar, the culture minister of Maharashtra, said that the ‘Wagh Nakh’ or tiger claw-shaped weapon used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was brought to Mumbai from a London museum on Wednesday.

1. Two separate attacks by rebels on an army base and a health centre in northwest Pakistan killed 28 people, including 10 soldiers as well as female health workers and children on Tuesday.

2. The India-Indonesia-Australia Trilateral Focal Points meeting was held on Tuesday, during which the three sides held discussions to explore opportunities for collaboration under the framework of the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

3. A Comoros-flagged oil tanker with 13 Indians and 3 Sri Lankans as crew members has capsized off the coast of Oman, the country’s Maritime Security Centre said on Tuesday.The oil tanker, Prestige Falcon capsized 25 nautical miles southeast of Ras Madrakah. This is near the Omani port of Duqm.
