1. The 12th meeting of the Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) concluded earlier this week in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in the growing strategic partnership between the two nations. The high-level dialogue, led by senior defence officials from both countries.

2. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday congratulated Hamdan Mohammed on being appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

3. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla emphasized that Indians residing abroad are integral partners in India’s development and modernization during his address to the Indian Diaspora in Moscow, Russia.

4. The state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is currently in discussions with multiple global defence forces about the potential production and export of Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets. It’s noteworthy that Russia has agreed in principle to support India in this strategic endeavour, a significant development that emerged during PM Modi’s visit to Moscow.

5. A six-member delegation from Kazakhstan Special Forces visited the Special Forces Training School in Himachal Pradesh’s Bakloh. During the visit, the Kazakh delegation not only witnessed the training activities there, but also the infrastructure as well.

6. The team of Institute of Technology, Nirma University won the Robot Competition DD-Robocon India 2024. The two day event began on Saturday at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi. This event was organised by Prasar Bharati and IIT Delhi. The winning team will now represent India at the international Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Robocon 2024 in QuangNinh, Vietnam.

1. Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel has appointed KP Sharma Oli (72) as the next Prime Minister. Oli is the single leader who staked his claim for the post in support of the Nepali Congress. According to the statement, the oath ceremony for Oli has been scheduled to take place today.

3. The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Secretary General has condemned the attack on former US President Donald Trump at his campaign rally in Pennsylvania and emphasised that political violence has no place in democracies.

4. In Nepal, the bodies of five passengers, who were reported missing after two passenger buses were swept into the Trishuli river by a landslide on Friday, have been recovered. The incident occurred when two passenger buses, one heading from Birgunj to Kathmandu and another from Kathmandu to Gaur, were swept into the Trishuli river after a landslide at Simaltal Bharatpur.

5. Seven people were killed this past week and 196 homes have been destroyed as a result of raging wildfires in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Province.

6. An Islamabad District and Sessions Court has acquitted former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in an unlawful marriage case. The court dismissed charges against Khan in the un-Islamic marriage case where a petitioner had challenged the legality of his marriage.
