2. Jitu Rai, a marksman who won gold at the Asian Games, has made the decision to retire from the Indian Army in order to focus on training young athletes to achieve success on the global stage.
Originally from Nepal’s Sankhuwa Sabha district, the 36-year-old Rai, who has been honored with the Khel Ratna and Padma Shri awards, made history as the sole Indian shooter to secure a gold medal at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. This remarkable feat propelled him to the rank of Honorary Captain in the Army. Rai, who spent the majority of his 17-and-a-half-year career with the 11 Gorkha Regiment based in Lucknow.
3. A 28-member Indian athletics team, led by menтАЩs javelin throw defending champion Neeraj Chopra, will compete at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced.
4. The 2024 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad and officially branded as Paris 2024, is an upcoming international multi-sport event scheduled to take place from 26 July (the date of the opening ceremony) to 11 August 2024 in France.
