1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi attends G-7 outreach summit at Apulia in Italy; Artificial Intelligence and Energy to be among main focus queen pilgrimage began yesterday. They will spend the night there and move towards the plains of Arafat at dawn today for the day’s main ritual of Haj-reciting prayers.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed to bolster strategic defence cooperation, with a heightened emphasis on promoting India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.PM Modi and French President Macron held a bilateral meeting on Friday on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Apulia, Italy.

3. The two day India-IORA Cruise Tourism Conference concluded in New Delhi on Friday. Officials and experts from the Indian Ocean Rim Association, IORA Member States including Bangladesh, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Seychelles and Tanzania participated in the Conference.

4. An international conference on Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) will be held in Kochi on July 11 and 12.

1. The United States and Ukraine have signed an agreement laying out Washington’s long-term security relationship with Kiev on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Italy.

2. Bangladesh, a long-time purchaser of Chinese military equipment, has lodged complaints with Beijing regarding the supply of defective components and technical issues with its imported military hardware. Bangladesh is not alone in facing problems with Chinese military hardware. Other countries, such as Myanmar, have also faced issues with Chinese fighter jets.

3. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced Armenia’s decision to leave the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), a Russian-led military alliance.

4. The US military said that two cruise missiles launched by Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels struck a bulk cargo carrier in the Gulf of Aden on Thursday.

The strike severely injured a sailor who was evacuated by American forces in an aircraft from the USS Philippine Sea (CG 58).
