1. India Meteorological Department (IMD) weather forecast : Over the next five days, the IMD forecasts fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

2. The IMD has also issued an orange alert for thunderstorms and moderate rain in several districts of Maharashtra, including, Thane, Raigad, Pune, Satara, Solapur, Beed and Ahmednagar districts.

3. Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, accompanied by Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan this evening. They submitted a copy of the Notification issued by the Election Commission, which contains the names of the Members elected to the Lok Sabha following the General Elections to the 18th Lok Sabha, to the President.

4. NDA Parliamentary Party meeting to be held in New Delhi today.

Newly elected Members of Parliament of the BJP, Telugu Desam Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Shiv Sena (Shinde Faction), Janata Dal (Secular) and other constituent parties of NDA will attend the meeting. Meanwhile, leaders of the BJP and JD(U) are holding separate meetings in Delhi .

5. Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Y.S. Sharmila has appealed to TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu to extend support to the BJP for forming the government at the Centre only if it agrees to grant the Special Category Status (SCS) and fulfil all other promises made to Andhra Pradesh in the A.P. Reorganisation Act, 2014.

6. The BJP faces a stiff alliance test in its third term and its signs were visible on Thursday as its ally, Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), said it would demand a review of the Agnipath recruitment scheme for the Army. JD(U) leader KC Tyagi said there was resentment against the Agnipath scheme, and it was visible during the elections.

7. BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on Thursday said the next assembly elections in Bihar will be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar’s support has become crucial for the survival of the NDA government at the Centre. The assembly elections in the state are due sometime in October-November 2025.

8. The Aam Aadmi Party has said that it will contest the Delhi Assembly elections alone. The decision was taken at a meeting of all the party MLA at the Chief Minister’s residence in the national capital.

9. In Assam, flood situation has improved due to better weather conditions during the last 24 hours with the number of total affected population coming down to over 2 lakh 46 thousand. One person died in Cachar district taking the season’s flood toll to 25.

10. NOTA created a record with 2.18 lakh voters in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore opting for the ‘none of the above’ option in the Lok Sabha elections.

In Uttarakhand, nine trekkers from Karnataka died near the Sahastra Tal in Uttarakhand. Nine trekkers, part of a 22-member group, died after losing their way due to bad weather while on their way back to Sahastra Tal on Tuesday. 13 trekkers have been rescued by a joint air-ground search and rescue operation by IAF, NDRF and SDRF. The Sahastra Tal trek is a high-altitude trail at 15,000 feet in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

1. The Army has joined hands with a Sikkim-based university to provide educational and skilling opportunities to the families of Army personnel by earmarking seats in its skill-based academic programmes and offering fee concessions.

2. Defence Ministry signs MoUs to onboard four banks as SPARSH service centres : According to the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed in Delhi, the web-based SPARSH [System for Pension Administration (Raksha)] Service Centres will be available across 1,128 branches of the four banks across the country.

The Defence Accounts Department (DAD), which functions under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence will onboard the Bank of India, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank to provide the last mile connectivity to the pensioners.

The 6th edition of Staff Talks between Indian Navy (IN) and Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) were conducted from June 4 to 5 at New Delhi, the Ministry of Defence informed in a press release.The talks were focused towards further strengthening the existing Defence relations between India and Oman in the maritime domain.
