Jharkhand is a state in eastern India. Its capital is Ranchi, It was carved out of the southern part of Bihar on 15 November 2000.

His works elaborate on ideas found in the Upanishads. He travelled across the Indian subcontinent to propagate his philosophy through discourses and debates with other thinkers. He established the importance of monastic life as sanctioned in the Upanishads and Brahma Sutra.

Shankaracharya (शङ्कराचार्य) is a commonly used title of heads of monasteries called mathas in the Advaita Vedanta tradition. The title derives from Adi Shankara, teachers from the successive line of teachers dating back to him are known as Shankaracharyas.
