1. PM Modi has said that he is deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic demise of the President of Iran Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi. The Prime Minister said, India stands with Iran in this time of sorrow.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and a group of officials accompanying them have been killed in a helicopter crash in northwestern Iran.

2. President Ebrahim Raisi was travelling back to Iran following a visit to Azerbaijan when his helicopter came down in bad weather conditions .

3. India has announced state mourning for today as a mark of respect on the death of Iran’s President and Foreign Minister in a helicopter crash. The National Flag will be flown at half mast throughout the country on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly. Also, there will be no official entertainment on the day.

4. The Artara’24 Fine Arts Exhibition and Competition has made its mark in Dubai at the Al Jalila Cultural Center, as a platform for discovering and nurturing emerging artistic talents from Bharath. The event aimed to discover hidden artistic gems, with a particular focus on the Indian talent residing in Dubai.

5. Russia and India have signed a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) of authorised economic operators (AEOs). The first deputy head of the Russian Federal Customs Service, Ruslan Davydov, and the chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, have signed a mutual recognition agreement of authorized economic operators (AEOs) to enhance security and customs trade between the two countries.

6. The Indian Embassy in Bishkek said that the situation there is normal now and the Indian students are safe.

1. Mohammad Mokhber appointed as Acting President of Iran : Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has appointed Vice President Mohammad Mokhber as the Acting President after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. The Supreme Leader also ordered five days of national mourning for Mr. Raisi, who had held the Presidency since 2021.

2. Ed Dwight, who was America’s first Black astronaut candidate, made a historic trip into space on May 19 with Jeff Bezos’s company, Blue Origin. This event was a big deal because it happened 60 years after he was first suggested for NASA’s astronaut corps.

3. The International Criminal Court’s chief prosecutor, Karim Khan has applied for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the top three Hamas leaders. According to media reports, the arrest warrants are sought over war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Israel and Gaza.

4. Lai Ching-te of Taiwan’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) was sworn in as the self-governing island’s new President.

5. Nearly 5,000 houses of Buddhists, Hindus gutted in Myanmar as tensions simmer: The situation in Myanmar continues to be on the grim with increased fighting between the military-led Junta army and the ethnic rebel groups across many parts specially in Rakhine state. These houses were gutted between April 11th and 21st. Buthidaung is now under complete control of rebel ethnic group Arakan Army.

6. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission has asked the Pakistani authorities to impose a tax on monthly pensions exceeding ₹1,00,000.
