1. PM Modi condemned the shooting attack on Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, calling it a “cowardly and dastardly act”.PM Modi further wished the Slovak PM a speedy recovery.

2. The Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, delivered his annual address to the officers of India’s National Defence College in New Delhi on Thursday.

Earlier in April, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held a bilateral meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev and both sides reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation and discussed important issues of mutual interest.

3. India’s fintech company PhonePe Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has been launched in Sri Lanka. Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe and India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha attended the launch event in Sri Lanka.

4. Sri Lanka State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon stated that Sri Lanka is holding talks with India to set up a small arms manufacturing unit under the wider ambit of defence cooperation between the two countries.

5. India and Russia held bilateral consultations on Afghanistan on Wednesday in New Delhi and discussed the current situation of the Afghan people.

6. Defence expert Praful Bakshi emphasized that China seeks to maintain control over PoK due to its significance for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which passes through various parts of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK).

1. China’s President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed and issued a joint statement on deepening China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in China for a two-day state on Thursday morning.

2. Israeli soldiers operating in northern Gaza eliminated dozens of terrorists in encounters and airstrikes as Hamas tries to regroup in the Zeitoun area, the Israel Defense Forces said.

3. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy visited Kharkiv yesterday. He described the battlefield situation in the region as extremely difficult but under control.

4. Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was shot on 15 May in Handlova, is now in a stable condition but remains serious. According to a hospital official, he underwent five hours of surgery with two teams to treat multiple gunshot wounds.

5. France has declared a state of emergency on the Pacific archipelago of New Caledonia after violent protests flared up against electoral reforms killing one police officer and three others. New Caledonia is a French overseas territory located hundreds of miles off Australia’s eastern coast. The violence is the latest flash point in long-running tensions over Paris’ role in the archipelago.

6. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has removed Cuba from the State Department’s short list of countries that it deems less than fully cooperative against violent groups.

7. Pakistan Islamabad High Court granted bail to former prime minister Imran Khan in the 190 million pounds corruption case.

8. NASA Appoints David Salvagnini as the New Chief for Artificial Intelligence agency’s (AI) Officer.
