1. India is now planning to supply thousands of metric tons of onion to Sri Lanka after supplying vast quantities of essential commodities to Maldives. Besides this, India on April 3 allowed a supply of an additional 10,000 metric tons of onions over and above its quota to close ally United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the Gulf country is always a priority with Bharat.

2. UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis has lauded India’s use of digitalisation that has helped achieve financial inclusion and poverty reduction, underlining that this gives the country a “comparative advantage” and its lessons can be shared with the global community.

3. In 2022-2023, India became the world’s second-largest consumer of vegetable oils after China, importing around 17 million tons including 1.5 to 3 million tons of sunflower oil, constituting 10 to 15 percent of total imports.Russia emerged as the leading provider of sunflower oil to the Indian market in 2023.

1. Israeli military has withdrawn all ground troops, except for one brigade, from the southern part of Gaza.

The military regime in Myanmar, which took control three years ago, faced a setback along the eastern border with Thailand as ethnic Karen insurgents, joined by other anti-coup forces, launched attacks.
