1. ISRO successfully launches next generation weather INSAT-3DS from Sriharikota : The Indian Space Research organisation launched GSLV F14 at 5.35 pm on Saturday from the second launch pad at the Sathish.

2. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will organise a special programme for school children called ‘Young Scientist Programme- YUva VIgyani KAryakram (YUVIKA) from the 13th of May this year.

3. The Indian government has formulated a new policy to promote domestic cultivation of pulses like lentils and encourage farmers to grow them instead of traditional crops.

6. The Tamil Nadu state differently-abled welfare department is setting up 39 One-Stop Centers (OSCs) at the sub-divisional administration level as part of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act implementation.

7. In J&K, the Union Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned another package for upgradation of 12 roads having length of 134 Kms and one bridge Project at an estimated cost of 152 crores rupees.

8. The construction of the fourth railway line on the 206 km long railway section between Bilaspur and Jharsuguda is being done at a fast pace, said the Ministry of Railways on Saturday. The construction of this railway line connecting Chhattisgarh and Odisha will increase the operational capacity of trains.

9. Election Commission of India delegation led by its chief Rajiv Kumar said that ECI is fully prepared to conduct upcoming Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly elections simultaneously.

An Alliance negotiations between the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are at an advanced stage ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and State Assembly polls, as the Andhra Pradesh party makes its way back to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). According to BJP sources, the ruling party has demanded six Lok Sabha seats in the State, along with 20 Assembly seats, while Pawan Kalyan’s Jan Sena Party wants three Lok Sabha seats. So far, no confirmations have been forthcoming from the TDP.

11. PM Modi is set to unveil a colossal 125-foot statue of Bir Lachit Borphukan in Lahdoigarh, Holongapar, Jorhat in the first week of March 2024.

1. Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar said on Saturday that the Election Commission will publish all the details of the donors and receivers of electoral bonds within the deadline as ordered by the Supreme Court.

3. The Department of Fisheries will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) in the presence of Union Minister of Fisheries Parshottam Rupala on Monday in New Delhi.

4. In the ongoing Sandeshkhali case, West Bengal state police have registered a case of gang rape against Shibu Prasad Hazra and Uttam Sardar. They are associates of fugitive Trinamool Congress leader Sahajahan Sheikh. A woman at Sandeshkhali has given a confidential statement at court that she was gang raped. On that basis, case has been registered.

The Sandeshkhali case from West Bengal, centered around allegations of sexual abuse and land grabbing by a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader.

5. A court in Delhi on Saturday dismissed the plea of student activist Sharjeel Imam seeking bail on the grounds that he had been in custody for the last four years, which was more than half of the maximum sentence prescribed for the offence.

The court directed to continue Imam’s custody, saying the present case was “different” from other cases because of the nature of allegations against Imam and his “disruptive activities.”

1. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) announced the reconstitution of the Expert Committee on the implementation of the Indian Accounting Standards on Friday. According to agency press release, the 13-member committee, which will be headed by the Member (Finance and Investment) F&I of IRDAI, will also include the Chairman of the Accounting Standards Board of ICAI, the President of the Institute of Actuaries of India, the CGM & HOD of IRDAI’s Actuarial Department, among others.

2. Oil prices fell around one per cent on Thursday. In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading 0.98 per cent lower at 80 dollars and 81 cents per barrel.

3. Japan has slipped behind Germany to fourth position among the world’s largest economies in gross domestic product (GDP) terms.

2. The Central Bureau of Investigation on Saturday moved an application before a special court in Mumbai seeking a stay on a documentary series on Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case.

The docu-series, titled The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth delves into the disappearance of 25-year-old Bora and is scheduled to premiere on streaming platform Netflix on 23 February.

3. Malayalam starrer Mammootty BRAMAYUGAM movie was released in theatres on Thursday, to critical and commercial success. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 3 crore on its opening day. It is to be noted that the film has only released in one language, Malayalam. Bramayugam got 128 shows in Kochi, and witnessed an occupancy of 69%.

4. Popular actor of yesteryears Anjana Bhowmick died in Kolkata on Saturday, family sources said. She was 79. Anjana who had been ailing for some time died at a private hospital in Kolkata at around 10:30 am.

5. Actor Suhani Bhatnagar, who played Babita Kumari Phogat’s childhood role in Aamir Khan’s Dangal, died on Saturday in Delhi while undergoing treatment after she fractured her leg. She was 19.

1. Indian Air Force demonstration exercise Vayu-Shakti 2024 was held on Saturday evening at the Pokhran Range near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.

(a) Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

(b) IAF Chinook helicopters demonstrating rapid deployment of combat assets by airlifting the Indian Army’s M-777 Ultra-Light Howitzers in an underslung mode enabling prompt destruction of simulated enemy targets on ground.

(c) The capabilities of indigenous Light Combat Helicopter Prachand wherein it neutralises designated target with rockets.

2. The 12th edition of the MILAN naval exercise is poised to set sail in the strategic port city of Visakhapatnam from February 19 to 27, marking a significant gathering of naval forces from over 50 countries.

3. Recently, the Ministry of Defence signed a Rs 1,752.13-crore contract with a Kanpur-based firm for manufacturing and supply of 463 indigenously built 12.7 mm stabilised remote control guns for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.
