1. A tweet by a Maldives minister days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Lakshadweep archipelago has triggered a row on social media.

The tweet came after PM Modi’s posts on X (formerly Twitter) about snorkelling in the Lakshadweep went viral, prompting social media users in India to suggest the island Union Territory as an alternate tourist destination to the Maldives.

2. Maldivian deputy minister Hassan Zihan, quoting a local media tweet, on Sunday denied a report of his suspension from the cabinet, along with other ministers, over derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it ‘fake news’.

3. The Maldivian government on Sunday suspended three ministers who posted “derogatory remarks” against Prime Minister Narendra Modi as it distanced itself from their comments on social media and said these opinions are “personal and do not represent the views of the government”

4. Sri Lankan Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva visited the Guruvayur temple in Kerala’s Thrissur on Saturday.

5. India has signed an agreement with Mauritius to jointly develop a small satellite, which will be launched by ISRO in early 2024. The cooperation will be between ISRO and Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC).

1. In Pakistan, At least four people, including two security personnel have been killed and three others were injured after armed assailants fired upon a bus and a car in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district.

2. China announced sanctions Sunday on five American defence-related companies in response to U.S. arms sales to Taiwan and U.S sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals. The sanctions will freeze any property the companies have in China and prohibit organizations and individuals in China from doing business with them.

6. NASA has announced 13 winning ideas in Phase 1 of its NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program. The NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) program funds early-stage studies to encourage pioneering space technology ideas that could transform future NASA missions.
