The BJP MLAs had refused to take oath under pro tem speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi, brother of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

17. The Telangana government on Thursday transferred eight officers. The government has given top priority to the energy wing and appointed four of eight officers’ were allocated to the energy department. Interestingly some of the officers were shifted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) during assembly polls.

18. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has implemented strict measures against operators found guilty of overcharging and also imposed penalty of Rs.50,000 against them.

1. The Supreme Court on Thursday directed senior Karnataka IPS officer D Roopa to delete some of her controversial social media posts against IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri by Friday.

2. Thirteen opposition MPs of Lok Sabha and one of Rajya Sabha have been suspended for the remainder of the Winter Session for their unruly behavior in the House.

3. Eight security personnel have been suspended in recent security breach incident in the Lok Sabha. The suspended personnel are from different security agencies including Delhi Police. The action has been taken against them for security lapses in Parliament.

4. The Supreme Court on Thursday conditionally suspended the conviction of former Bahujan Samaj Party MP Afzal Ansari in a 2007 Gangsters Act case, saying his Ghazipur constituency will be deprived of its legitimate representation in the legislature since a by-election may not be held given the remaining tenure of the current Lok Sabha.

5. The Allahabad high court on Thursday allowed a court-monitored survey of the Shahi Idgah adjoining the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, an important milestone in the temple-mosque dispute in Mathura.

6. Lok Sabha has withdrawn the suspension of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP SR Parthiban after the government told Speaker Om Birla that it was a case of mistaken identity as the member was not present in the House when others disrupted its proceedings.

7. Lalit Mohan Jha, a key accused in the Parliament security breach incident, was arrested on Thursday evening.

Four persons arrested in connection with the security breach in Parliament have been charged under the anti-terror law UAPA besides sections of the Indian Penal Code.

8. A Delhi high court on Thursday said the issue raised in a petition seeking de-registration of political parties having names with caste, religious, ethnic or linguistic connotations and flags resembling the tricolour has to be decided by the Parliament as it is not in the domain of judiciary.

1. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on December 14 said it has imposed a monetary penalty on five cooperative banks citing various rule violations.

These cooperative banks are
(a) Mumbai-based Janakalyan Sahakari Bank,
(b) Pune Merchants Co-operative Bank,
(c) Pune Municipal Corporation Servant’s Co-operative Urban Bank, (d) Indapur Urban Co-operative Bank
(e) Patan Urban Co-operative Bank.

2. Defence stocks like Bharat Dynamics, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Solar Industries, L&T and Paras Defence are trading mixed bag on BSE on Thursday (December 14, 2023) after the defence ministry on Wednesday approved a Rs 2,800 crore proposal to purchase about 6,400 rockets for the Pinaka Multi-Barrel Rocket Launcher System.

3. Coal Ministry’s Government e-Marketplace (GeM) procurement has reached over 34 thousand crore rupees, exceeding the target of 21 thousand crore rupees in the current fiscal year.
