1. Parliament has passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 with Rajya Sabha approving it today. The Bill was passed in Lok Sabha last week.

2. External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar, reacting to the Supreme Court’s verdict on the abrogation of Article 370, said that the judgment portends a brighter future for people in Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) and Ladakh.

1. In a significant move, Supreme Court has upheld the validity of Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 of the Constitution of India, which granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

2. The Supreme Court backed the Centre’s move to scrap special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and ordered elections next year.Article 370 was a temporary provision to ease Jammu and Kashmir’s merger with India, said Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.

3. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan on Monday lashed out at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by accusing the Marxist veteran of ‘conspiring’ to hurt him physically.

4. A four-foot deep and wide pit was found adjacent to the boundary wall of the strategically important Hindon airbase in Gaziabad, raising an alert, with the local police saying the possibility of an infiltration attempt.
