1. PM Modi has paid tribute to the courage, commitment, and sacrifices of the nation’s brave soldiers on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day on Thursday (7th December 2023).

2. The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare under the Ministry of Defence has entered into a collaboration with the Indian School of Business (ISB), for scholarships to military personnel who return to civilian life post-retirement.

3. The Indian Army is in the process to induct around 10,000 Hand Held Thermal Imager-Uncooled (HHTI-UC) devices, for which the Request for Information (RFI) has been uploaded on its official website.

4. The surveillance device should enable day and night surveillance with a combination of High-Resolution Optical Viewer, Digital (low light) and Thermal (uncooled) sensors.

5. An Indian Air Force C-17 airdropped an ADRDE-developed Type V heavy Platform (24 ft), for the first time. This successful outcome is a result of the efforts of dedicated teams from IAF, Indian Army, and ADRDE, in showcasing the strength of indigenous innovation.

6. The Indian Army is in the process of developing military-grade 5G and 6G telecom applications as part of an ambitious project to address future warfare requirement and roll out critical technologies to enhance overall efficiency.

The software and technologies are being developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

7. TUG OF WAR CONTINUES BETWEEN INDIA, MALDIVES OVER PRESENCE OF INDIAN SOLDIERS : The newly-elected Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has formally requested India to withdraw its soldiers.

(a) When President Muizzu met India’s Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju in Male in November, he acknowledged India’s contribution through the services of these aircrafts and chopper for medical evacuation of Maldivian citizens. They are also on standby for any eventuality for international tourists and also help in monitoring and combating drug trafficking.

(b) There are 24 Indian military personnel managing a chopper, 25 managing a Dornier and 26 managing a second Dornier in the Maldives. In addition, there are two more for maintenance and engineering, bringing the total to 77.
