VIJAY HAZARE TROPHY 2023–24
(a) It is the 31st edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, an annual List A cricket tournament in India.
(b) It is being played from 12 Novto 15 Dec 2023.
(c) The tournament features 38 teams, divided into five groups.
(d) It is being played in six cities across the country: Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ranchi, and Ahmedabad. All knockout matches will be played in Ahmedabad.
(e) The defending champions are Saurashtra, who defeated Maharashtra in the final of the 2022–23 tournament.
(f) The Vijay Hazare Trophy, (officially known as the IDFC First Bank Vijay Hazare Trophy for sponsorship reasons), originally known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy.
(g) It is an annual limited overs cricket domestic competition organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
(h) It involves the state and union territory teams which take part in the Ranji Trophy. The tournament began in the 1993–94 season but was played at zonal level only until 2002–03 when it was expanded to become a national competition.
(j) In 2007, it was renamed in honour of Vijay Hazare, who had died in December 2004.
(k) The most successful team since expansion is Tamil Nadu who have won the trophy five times.
2. Olympian M. Sreeshankar has been honored with the prestigious 35th Jimmy George Foundation Award for emerging as the best sportsperson of Kerala. This recognition comes as a testament to Sreeshankar’s outstanding achievements, including securing the long jump silver medal in both the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
