1. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar is going to visit Kuwait this week , This will be the first visit from the Indian side to Kuwait since Sheikh Nawaf became the oil-rich nation’s new ruler last September, EAM will carry a letter from PM Modi regarding the bilateral relations between the two countries.
2. The High Commission of India in Dhaka has taken up the case for the entry of the Indian medical students who are scheduled to appear for their MBBS final professional examination in Bangladesh in June this year.many of the MBBS students had written to the High Commission seeking help to return to Bangladesh to appear for their final exams. Actually exams were scheduled to be held in Nov 2020 but they have been rescheduled now for June 2021.
3. World Bank has approved a USD 500 million program to help boost India’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector. The programme targets improvements in the performance of five lakh 50 thousand MSMEs.
4. Indian Navy will be receiving three MH-60R Seahawks out of the 24 that are expected . The helicopters are going to be primed with torpedoes and missiles. The deal got the stamp of approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in February last year.
5. India did not renew the lease of submarines Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chakra from Russia, causing a serious shortage of its underground combat force. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Chakra is a Project 971 “Shchuka-B” nuclear attack submarine, launched in 2008 by Russia as K-152 Nerpa. The ship was chartered by New Delhi in April 2012 at a cost of about 670 million USD and for a period of 10 years, becoming the first nuclear submarine in the Indian Navy.

1. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law that formalises Russia`s exit from the Open Skies arms control treaty, a pact that allows unarmed surveillance flights over member countries.
2. Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid, has been elected as the President of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (PGA) with an overwhelming majority. The UNGA presidency is annual in term and held on a rotational basis every year amongst various regional groupings.
3. Interpol launches global database named “I-Familia” to identify missing persons through family DNA. I-Familia is the first database to do this on a global scale and provide standardized interpretation guidelines.
4. World Brain Tumour Day
It is observed every year on 8 June to raise international public attention to the people that are suffering from serious disease and the urgent need for more research. Several events are organised around the world to educate about brain tumours.
5. Nearly 150 Afghan troops have been killed and many injured in the last 24 hours in a surge of attacks by Taliban militants as foreign forces withdraw, The Taliban seized Shahrak district of western Ghor province and forced Afghan troops to retreat to nearby villages.
6. 8 June – World Oceans Day
World Oceans Day is celebrated on 8 June every year to empower people of all ages to become leaders of their own and stop polluting ocean, water bodies. This day spread awareness about reducing single-use plastics and taking action necessary to bring real change.
7. Heavy rains affected Sri Lanka, triggering floods and landslides that have killed approx 17 people and forced tens of thousands from their homes.
8. Two passenger trains collided in southern Pakistan yesterday, killing nearly 40 people and injuring many. According to sources one train travelling in Sindh province had derailed and landed on another track. A second train packed with passengers then collided with it and overturned.
