The DUTA Executive met on 5th May at to discuss the issue of Vivekananda College (VNC) teachers.
The Acting Principal, Dr. Hina Nandrajog had refused to give rejoining to the 12 ad hoc teachers. These 12 teachers have been teaching in the college for the past several years. The longest serving teacher amongst these 12 has been teaching since 9.1.2014 and few others have joined in 2016 and 2018.
The DUTA has held a number of action programs, written several letters to the Delhi University and Delhi Government and has been proactively pursuing the matter with members of the Governing Body of Vivekananda College. Displacement of ad hoc teachers is not acceptable at any cost.
The Governing Body in its last meeting held on 20.5.2021, had mandated continuation of these 12 affected teachers till permanent appointments are held. It is extremely unfortuate and shocking that the Acting Principal has not implemented the decision till date.
The DUTA has demanded that Dr Hina Nandrajog should be removed from the Office.
Following this, the University of Delhi has written to the college to initiate the process of appointing the new Principal. The present Acting Principal has been in the office for more than 5 years and it is important that the college appoints a new person according to rules and regulations.
The DUTA Executive after meeting decided to hold a two day online action programme on 7th & 8th May from 11 am to 1 pm, to demand immediate intervention of the Chief Minister and Vice Chancellor.
