Chhath puja

1. President Smt. Droupadi Murmu extends greetings to all citizens on the occasion of Chhath puja.

Chhath Puja is a festival dedicated to the worship of Sun God that provides an opportunity to offer reverence and gratitude to rivers, ponds, and other sources of water.

Chhath puja is a 4 day upavas/vrat observed in the Hindu calendar month of Karthik, which starts on shukla chaturthi and ends on shukla saptami.

2. PM Narendra Modi to chair virtual G20 Leaders’ Summit on 22nd November.

3. All government and private schools in Delhi will reopen from Monday in view of the improving air quality across the NCR. The announcement was made by the Delhi government on Saturday.

1. Bihar: Six people dead in Sitamarhi district after consuming spurious liquor.

2. The 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed part of the under-construction Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi could have been rescued much earlier had the company built an escape route as per standard operating procedure.

But, the escape route was not included in the 4.5-km tunnel once construction began despite it being part of the original design, pointing to an alleged serious lapse.

Border Roads Organisations road to create an alternative route to the under-construction Silkyara tunnel would be ready by Sunday afternoon and the rescue mission that had been stalled since Friday could finally resume.

1. In a significant boost to India’s defence sector, the engines for the LCA Mark 2 and the first two squadrons of the indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) will be domestically produced, DRDO chief Dr Samir V Kamat said. The HAL and GE from the US would be producing these engines jointly in a facility in India.
