Official kit for Team India at the Tokyo 2020

1. Track legend Milkha Singh, who had tested positive for COVID-19 two weeks ago, was on Thursday admitted to the ICU in COVID hospital of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh.
Milkha Singh is also known as The Flying Sikh. He still is the only Indian athlete to win gold in the 400m at the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games.
He was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour, in recognition of his sporting achievements.

2. Indian Olympic Association Unveils the Official kit for Team India at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games: With 50 days to go for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the Indian Olympic Association unveiled an impressive ceremonial and official sports attire for the Indian contingent that will participate in the Games of the XXXII Olympiad scheduled to be held from 23 July to 8 August 2021 in Tokyo, Japan.

3. In Hockey, Indian men’s team maintained their fourth position while women’s team held to ninth position in the latest International Hockey Federation world rankings.
Despite missing the European leg of the FIH Hockey Pro- League series in Great Britain, Spain and Germany in April and May, the Indian men’s team maintained its fourth spot.

4. The Indian men’s cricket team led by Virat Kohli and Mithali Raj-led women’s team took off for United Kingdom. Both the team are flying in the same chartered flight in a historic first. Upon reaching, they will head into a straight 10-day quarantine. It is notable that the India men and women’s team will be in action in the UK for the next couple of months.
While India men will play five-match Test series against Englishmen, India women will play one-off day which will be followed by three-match ODI and T20I series.

5. In Asian Cup football qualifiers, Sunil Chhetri-led Indian football team begins its bid to qualify for the 2023 Asian Cup with a match against Asian champions Qatar in Doha today .

Although it is a combined qualification tournament, combining the 2022 World Cup, India are out of contention for the game’s biggest tournament. India’s other qualification matches are against Bangladesh on 7th of June and Afghanistan on 15th of June.
