1. This year, Varalaxmi Vrat will be observed today on 25 August, which corresponds to the Navami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Saawan. This special day is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, believed to bestow wealth, prosperity, and well-being. Typically falling on the second Friday of the month of Shravan.

2. Pragyan rover of Chandrayaan-3 has rolled down on the Lunar surface. ISRO has said that Made in India and Made for the Moon rover Pragyan has ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon.

9. TELANGANA Govt pays out Rythu Bandhu, loan waiver: The state government completed the 11th phase of Rythu Bandhu transfers for the ongoing kharif season by disbursing Rs 7,625 crore to the accounts of 68.99 lakh farmers.

So far, the Telangana government has transferred Rs 72,815 crore to farmers accounts in 11 phases of Rythu Bandhu since May 2018, under which Rs 5,000 per acre is extended for each kharif and rabi season.

10. Millet Man of India, Dr. Khader Vali, said that it is a myth that millets are animal or bird food. He stated that millets are human food as well and any disease can be eliminated if one eats millet. He said addressing while addressing FICCI Millet Conclave in New Delhi.

1. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for capital acquisition proposals worth approximately 7,800 crore rupees in a meeting chaired by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh.

2. DAC has granted AoN to procure weapons for the MH-60R helicopters of the Navy procured from US company Lockheed Martin.

Procurement and installation of electronic warfare (EW) suite on Mi-17-V5 helicopters will enhance combat survivability. EW suite will be procured from Bharat Electronics Ltd, a public sector enterprise under MoD. IAF has about 130 Mi17-V5.

2. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari has indicated that Light Combat Aircraft MK 1A could be inducted in a newly raised squadron in one of the Indian Air Force operational bases, early next year.

3. INDIA TO UPGRADE LADAKH LANDING STRIP TO AIRBASE, JUST 35 KM FROM LAC: The advance landing ground (ALG) in eastern Ladakh’s Nyoma will be upgraded to a fully-equipped airbase that can operate numerous fighter jets like the Rafale, Sukhoi-30MKI and Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas.
