Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo scored to nullify the Sam Kerr equaliser as England beat Australia 3-1 in the 2023 Women’s World Cup semifinal at Stadium Australia in Sydney on Wednesday.

5. Former India captain and legendary footballer Mohammed Habib passed away on 15 Aug 2023. He represented India in many international tournaments from 1965-76.

He was born in Hyderabad in undivided Andhra Pradesh on July 17, 1949, Habib represented India for a decade from 1965-75 and was part of the golden generation that won a bronze medal in the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok.

6. Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 announced his retirement from international cricket to focus on playing T20 leagues around the world.

The 38-year-old left-arm pacer played 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20 Internationals from 2008-2020, claiming 83, 120 and 34 wickets respectively.
