india inducts new strike capable heron mark 2 drones in northern sector

The Indian Air Force has inducted its latest Heron Mark 2 drones, which have strike capability and can carry out surveillance along the borders with both China and Pakistan in a single sortie itself. The four new Heron Mark-2 drones, which can be equipped with long-range missiles and other weapons systems, have been deployed at a forward air base in the northern sector

1. President Smt Droupadi Murmu will address the nation on Monday on the eve of the 77th Independence Day.

6. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah along with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel flagged off the Tiranga Yatra from Ghatlodia in Ahmedabad city. The Yatra was organised as a part of the Meri Mitti Mera Desh campaign.

8. In Karnataka, The KSRTC has planned to recruit 500 drivers immediately through a private agency due to shortage of drivers.

11. Tirupati: Following incidents of attacks by wild animals on pilgrims, especially children, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has imposed curbs on the movement of pilgrims with children below the age 15 on the two trekking paths in Tirumala.

12. The biography, scheduled to be released on Aurobindo’s 151st birth anniversary on August 15, aims to offer an understanding of his “core principles, underlying his universal ideas, and making them better known and accessible”. It is published by Pan Macmillan India.

1. The Bank of Maharashtra has reduced the home and car loan rates, effective from Monday (August 14). With the latest cuts, customers will pay an interest of 8.5% for home loans in place of 8.6%. Similarly, car loan rates have been reduced to 8.7% from 8.9%.

2. The Reserve Bank has selected global consultancy firms McKinsey and Company India LLP and Accenture Solutions Pvt Ltd India to develop systems using artificial intelligence and machine learning for its supervisory functions.

2. NEW SUBMARINES FOR INDIA: India ‘s state-owned shipyard Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) had tied up with Germany’s TKMS for the Indian Navy’s Project 75I program to build six submarines. MDL has submitted the price bid for the project prior to the closure of the Indian Navy’s request for information on August 1. The project cost is “significantly” more than the $5.4 billion projected initially.

3. DRDO-Industry- Academia Centre of Excellence at IIT Jodhpur, will work on omni mobile system, an autonomous vehicle which can be used under water, float on water, driven on land and in air. It is one of the research projects that the Centre of Excellence for Defence being set up at IIT-Jodhpur (IIT-J) will take up.

4. Two Indian Naval ships, INS Visakhapatnam and INS Trikand, on Saturday, participated in a bilateral Naval Maritime Partnership Exercise with the UAE Navy. The maritime exercise aimed to enhance the interoperability and synergy between the two navies by cross-training on tactics, techniques and procedures.
