Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification as Lok Sabha MP revoked. The Lok Sabha membership of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was restored on Monday, August 7 2023. The Lok Sabha Secretariat issued a notification announcing that his disqualification has been revoked and his membership restored. Gandhi was disqualified as a Lok Sabha member on March 23 after a Gujarat court convicted him in a defamation case and sentenced him to two years in jail.

17. The stalemate over the Bill seeking to merge the TSRTC with the state government ended on Sunday after Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan gave consent to the state government to introduce it in the Legislative Assembly. The government introduced it soon after and the Assembly passed by a voice vote.

18. ANDHRA PRADESH Telugu Desam (TD) chief and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will tour the Godavari districts for two days on Monday and Tuesday. He will visit Polavaram on Monday and reach Seethanagaram mandal in Rajanagaram constituency

19. Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy formally lit up the historic Charminar Monument in the colours of the tricolour on Saturday evening at a gala event in Hyderabad. The illumination project has been carried out under the National Culture Fund, under the Ministry of Culture.

1. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its crackdown on the Popular Front of India (PFI) for its alleged anti-national activities.

2. Curfew for public movement in Haryana’s Nuh will be lifted for only four hours on Monday, an official notice has said. The curfew will be lifted from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

3. A group of motorcycle-borne masked men on Sunday allegedly vandalised some shops and injured a few people at two places in Haryana’s Panipat amid communal clashes in Nuh.

4. Home Ministry has deployed 10 additional companies of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) to violence-hit Manipur. Around 900 CAPF personnel, including troops from CRPF, BSF, ITBP and SSB, arrived in the state on Saturday night.

1. Reliance Industries has sought shareholders’ approval to give Mukesh Ambani another term as Chairman and Managing Director of the company till 2029.

As per the terms of the reappointment, no salary or profit-based commission will be paid to Ambani for the proposed five-year term. Ambani’s present term will expire on 19 April 2024.

2. The government has allocated one lakh 39 thousand 579 crore rupees to extend Bharat Net in six lakh 40 thousand villages across the country. The Communications Ministry said that the extension project of the Bharat Net will be achieved in nearly two year.

1. The ‘Barbie’ movie on Sunday crossed $1 billion in global box-office sales in its third week of release, according to Warner Bros, becoming the second picture to hit that mark this year. The movie grossed another $53 million domestically as it hits $459.4 million in North America. Director Greta Gerwig is the first solo female director to reach the milestone.

2. Mahout Bomman and his wife Bellie, on whom the Oscar-winning documentary film ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is based, have alleged director Kartiki Gonsalves had taken money from them to shoot scenes in the film and hadn’t yet paid them back. “The director gave us no money for featuring,” they claimed. They added that everything changed after the movie got the Oscar.

3. Popular Telugu singer Gaddar (G Vithal Rao) passed away in Hyderabad yesterday on 06 Aug. He was 74.

He was suffering from severe heart disease and got admitted on July 20. He underwent a bypass surgery on August 3 and recovered from it. He breathed his last this afternoon while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

He is known as a people’s warship. G Vithal Rao, popularly known as Gaddar, played a key role in the Telangana movement through his songs. Last month, he announced the launch of a new political party, which he called Gaddar Praja Party. He was most popular with his message oriented folk and revolutionary songs.

1. Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF) has warned all the Central Armed Police Force (CAPFs), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) that if the utilisation of seats on any routes of the Air Courier Service remains below 60 percent continuously for the next three months, the service on such routes may be stopped.

2. The eight former Indian Navy officers who have been detained in Qatar for ten months and are facing a trial have been moved out of solitary confinement. They are now lodged on a twin-sharing basis in Doha.

3. In Jammu & Kashmir, Army and Police in a joint operation successfully foiled an infiltration bid yesterday by neutralizing a terrorist along the Line of Control (LoC) in Amrohi area of Tangdhar Sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

4. The Armement Air-Sol Modulaire (AASM) Hammer air-to-surface munition from the TEJAS light combat aircraft has been successfully integrated and tested by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

The AASM Hammer is a precision-guided munition created by Safran Electronics & Defence, a French corporation.Release test have been carried out successfully from LSP7 on 31st March 2022.

5. The specialised aviation security group (ASG) of the CISF, that guards 66 civil airports of the country, has been sanctioned an enhanced manpower of more than 6,500 personnel over the past 18 months to cater to the ever-increasing load of passengers and expansion of the existing facilities, official sources said.

6. 11,414 women serving in three services: The total number includes officers, other ranks as well as those in medical, dental and nursing services. The government data placed before Lok Sabha showed on Friday.

7. China has released a new documentary called “Chasing Dreams” that focuses on the army’s preparation to attack Taiwan and showcases soldiers’ willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice if requested. The eight-part series, aired by state broadcaster CCTV, features military drills and testimonials by dozens of soldiers, whose views are intended to reflect Chinese nationalism.
